A Birthday Tarot Reading

Monday was my birthday, and for the first time in probably a decade I was able to celebrate with my family. While this is a positive situation, it is only one of many alterations to my “normal” life due to Covid-19, and thus I found myself really thinking about how different this year has been from other years in my past.

Honestly, one of the biggest changes has been my ability to be more open and comfortable sharing my spiritual views. As such, for the first time, I am comfortable sharing my birthday tarot reading.

Are you in Flow?

In a lot of ways, real life is like a story. You can have a Meet Cute in real life, or find some foreshadowing to a plot twist or two… if you know where to look, that is. You might even get your happily ever after.

And that’s the goal, isn’t it? To achieve some goal and enter into a state of happily ever after?

A Time of Transformation

Let’s be honest for a moment: There are a lot of us struggling right now. Some are struggling with things like a shift in work dynamics while working from home. Some are struggling because their job no longer exists. Some are struggling because, while their jobs are safe because they are deemed essential, it puts them on the front-lines of this pandemic.

Almost none of us were prepared for this new life, and for most of us, it has us questioning our sense of what is normal.

No matter how you are dealing (or not dealing) with the current situation, one thing is clear: we are definitely in a time of transition, and it seems like we’ve been moving towards this shift for some time now… albeit maybe not in this particular way.

Beltane 2020: From the Flames, Flowers will Bloom

The Great Wheel turns again! Today, May 1st, marks the midway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. It is the peak of Spring, where we celebrate the longer days, warmer nights, and the blooming of flowers.

It’s a holiday with, as it turns out, a bit of a complex background. Like the Easter bunny doesn’t fit with the Christian celebration of Easter (but it does with the New Age Ostara festival), there are two elements of Beltane that seem to conflict: Fire and Flowers.

So where do they come from? And why are they celebrated together? More importantly, how can I include them both in a way that is both honoring the day and makes me feel a little better during this crazy time in human history?
